2007 Season

Kimi Räikkönen won the Drivers’ Championship, driving for Ferrari, in a season consisting of 17 races. Ferrari also secured the Constructors’ Championship with 204 points and nine wins. The season featured four different race winners: Räikkönen (6 wins), Fernando Alonso (4), Lewis Hamilton (4), and Felipe Massa (3).

The title battle was one of the closest in Formula 1 history. Early in the season, the points lead changed hands multiple times among Räikkönen, Alonso, and Hamilton. After round 3, all three were tied at 22 points. Hamilton established a lead from round 6, gradually increasing his advantage to 14 points after round 8. By round 15, Hamilton led with 107 points, 12 ahead of Alonso and 17 ahead of Räikkönen. However, Räikkönen won the final two races, overtaking both McLaren drivers in the standings. The final points were Räikkönen 110, Hamilton 109, and Alonso 109, with the championship decided by a single point.

Hamilton, in his debut season, achieved four wins and 12 podiums, matching the podium tally of both Räikkönen and Alonso. Massa led the field with six pole positions. The season saw a high number of retirements due to collisions (19) and accidents (15).

Ferrari’s championship was achieved during a competitive regulation era, with no single team dominating outright. McLaren scored eight wins but finished the season with zero points in the Constructors’ standings. The 2007 season is notable for its narrow championship margin and the three-way title fight that lasted until the final race.
