1954 Season

Juan Fangio secured the World Drivers’ Championship in a season comprising nine races. Fangio drove for both Maserati and Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, achieving six victories out of the nine events. His wins came at the Argentine, Belgian, French, German, Swiss, and Italian Grands Prix, demonstrating versatility across two teams. The championship also saw victories from Bill Vukovich at the Indianapolis 500 (Kurtis Kraft), José Froilán González at the British Grand Prix (Scuderia Ferrari), and Mike Hawthorn at the Spanish Grand Prix (Scuderia Ferrari). The title battle was marked by Fangio’s immediate dominance. After the opening rounds, he consistently led the championship, with his points lead increasing as the season progressed. By the midpoint, Fangio had established a significant advantage, and after the eighth round, he had amassed 42 points, well ahead of his closest rivals, José Froilán González and Mike Hawthorn.
